I made Golabki (pronounced go-wum-key), a Polish stuffed cabbage dish. What are y’all eating tonight?

A delicious cheese burger.

It’s not delicious until there’s three layers of meat.

I’m currently grilling some pork steaks, heavily seasoned, bread and pork and beans. I have some peach’s and a small cherry pie for desert. Wife and kids are away, Dad’s getting his grill on and having several adult beverages. I cleaned the entire house, washed walls and mopped the floor. I’m owed this.

I’m not sure just yet. I was thinking that I might have breakfast for dinner. French toast sounds really good right now, but I have three other people to consider.

We bought some turkey burger patties a while back and they’re cluttering up my freezer, so I think I’m going to make myself some mushroom swiss turkey burgers tonight.

We just call that stuffed cabbage and it was one of my favorite foods as a kid. I have NO P olish heritage so I have no idea why we ate it so regularly.
And I’m eating absolutely everything, I’m starving after running this morning.

That sounds soooo good. I got lazy, opened my freezer, and this popped out:

I only known those by the name Chou roulés and cabbage roles. I guess the name was lost not long after my great grandfather came to Canada.
I’m guessing you also eat parogies too?

what

It’s not poland specific, pretty much every eastern european country has a variation on the dish. The polish version is ground hamburg, pork, rice, tomato, and seasonings.

No, I eat pierogis.

Yeah, we were just English and Welsh (but American since before 1700) , and I otherwise grew up on American staples like hamburger helper and fish sticks. Definitely a yummy food in all variations, just very out of place for my heritage and my mom’s cooking skills.

She probably made them b ecause she had no cooking skills! Most complex part is cooking the meat in a skillet.

Exactly what I made!

Tonight hotdogs
But yesterday I had chicken and waffle sliders in an old mill brewery https://www.apponaugbrewing.com/

Chicken and waffle is unnatural and you deserve to be drawn and quartered for enjoying it.

It was fried and i have no regrets. Well one, we didn’t want to wait for a table inside and ate outside.

I’ve got lots to choose in leftovers, although I prefer to call them intentional-overs since leftovers implies that it was accidental extras bring eaten. I’ve got chili I cooked the other day, crock pot chicken thighs, and then roasted potatoes, blackbeans/yellow rice, and veggies as sides. Also have a ribeye waiting to cook. But I also just ate free pizza my apartment complex was giving out. So I've gotta chill and figure out what I want to pig out on later.

I always have leftovers because I have a big family and only ever learned to cook for like six people. For instance, there were twelve golabkis total in this batch. Serving size is 2-3 depending on how stuffed they are.

I had a hipster burger at a hipster burger place. It had a lot of flavors and none of them went well together. The fries, however, were awesome.

I did type perogies but my iPhone autocorrected it to parogies
